Урок-игра

На уроке учащиеся развивают навыки аудирования, чтения, монологической и письменной речи.


Цели:

  • обобщение и активизация изученного материала по теме "Великобритания";
  • тренировка навыков аудирования, чтения, монологической речи;
  • совершенствование лексических навыков;
  • актуализация страноведческого материала;
  • развитие интереса учащихся к изучению английского языка, культуре и традиций Великобритании.

Оборудование:

  • интерактивная доска, видеофильм о Лондоне,
  • достопримечательности Лондона,
  • виды городов Великобритании,
  • кроссворд (презентация)

Ход урока

-Glad to meet you, boys and girls. Today we are going to have an unusual lesson: "The Star Hour". Two teams will take in it. Let me introduce them. We shall go on an imaginary Journey to the land of Great Britain and we'll talk about England, Scotland and Wales.

The motto of our lesson is: "It's better to see something once than to hear about it a hundred times".

The aim is: to find the answer to the question- what made Great Britain a rich and powerful country with so many colonial countries.

It's rather romantic to travel on board the ship.

GAME I

But on our way we can get into trouble because of storms. We should know the right way not to be lost.

The first game is to choose some geographical names connected with Great Britain. You will get one star if you read the names correctly.

GAME IV

I'd like to invite you on a tour about London. If you don't forget, we are looking for the reason, what made Great Britain so rich and powerful. I shall describe and show you the sights of London and you should guess what it is.

  1. Twelve black ravens live there. William the Conqueror built it in the 11th century. It was a fortress, a prison and the king's zoo. Now it is a museum. (The Tower)
  2. It has a large reading Hall. It is situated at number 7, Russel Street. It was founded in 1753. (The British Museum)
  3. There is a monument to Queen Victoria in front of this palace.(Buckingham Palace)
  4. There is a monument to Admiral Nelson in the middle of this square. Two
  5. Beautiful fountains and four bronze lions are situated there. (Trafalgar Square)
  6. Many kings and queens are buried there. There is the Poet's Corner there. It is more than 900 years old. (Westminster Abbey)

Midsummer's day, June 24th is the longest day of the year.
